So, every year, during the Chinese New Year celebrations, the villagers would decorate their homes with red lanterns, wear red clothing, and set off firecrackers to ward off Nian. This tradition continues to this day, as people gather with their loved ones, exchange red envelopes filled with money for good luck, and enjoy dragon dances and parades.
